The Defence Minister’s Media Aide, Mr Mati Ali, has debunked reports making round that the Minister, has lost his polling unit to the opposition party, The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the just concluded Babura-Garki Federal Constituency by-election.
Mr Ali in a statement, dislosed that their attention was drawn to the circulation of an election result from Babura Kofar Arewa Polling Unit 001, attributed to the Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar.
“This claim is false, untrue, and mischief deliberately aimed to mislead the public, the APC members and the media.
“We wish to categorically state that the report is nothing but the handiwork of mischief makers, seeking to distort facts and tarnish the image of the Minister.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Minister’s actual polling unit, is Babura Kofar Arewa Primary School Polling Unit 002, where he personally casted his vote.
“The authentic result, as duly released by INEC and announced by the Returning Officer, is as follows
APC: 188 votes and PDP: 164 votes,” said the media aide.
This official result he explained, confirmed that the Minister secured a clear and convincing victory in his polling unit in favour of the APC.
Mr Ali however reaffirmed that at Babura Arewa Primary School Polling Unit 002, his principal, Mr Abubakar emerged victorious during the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday, 17th August, 2025.
He appealed to the public, APC party members and the media to disregard the false reports in circulation and rely only on the authentic results as declared by INEC.
