Jigawa state executive council has approved the signing a 2-year Memorandum of Understanding with Medicins San Frontiers (Doctors without Borders), to reduce maternal mortality in the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa made this known in an interview on Tuesday, after the state executive council meeting, held in Dutse government House.
He said that the MoU, will assist Jigawa, in curbing out maternal and neonatal mortality rates, through the provision of efficient obstetric care at Jahun, Aujara and Miga Primary Healthcare Facilities.
According to the Commissioner, the Council has also approved the payment of N1,510,316,180.00 as compensation, in respect of construction of township roads.
This he said, is part of the state government’s commitment to infrastructural development, particularly to people affected by the construction.
He said, the payment will cover those affected in the following towns of Fagam, Kila-Jugwa-Sakuwa-Gwaram, Sankara -Ringim, Bulangu – K/Hausa, Gandun Sarki – Hadejia, Dansure -Roni, Aujara -Jahun and Dutse LGAs.
According to Mr Musa, the Council has approved the sum of N8,268,225,000.00, as an advance 30% down payment of the input costs for the 2025 Dry Season Rice Programme.
“This is to enhance food security and livelihood for millions of Citizens, by targeting 58,500 Farmers with loan to cultivate 50,000 hectares of rice in 1,000 clusters across the rice producing areas of the state.
“The aim to strengthen the administration’s effort for Jigawa State’s competitive advantage in rice farming in the Country,” he said.
