One Abubakar Muhammed of Nomi village in Taura local government area of Jigawa state, has been sentenced to death by hanging,or raping a 15-year-old boy.
Justice Ado Yusuf of court 5, Jigawa state high Court delivered the judgment on Thursday, when the convict pleaded guilty to the charge of having unlawful carnal intercourse with a 15-year-old boy from the same vicinity.
In his judgement, Justice Yusuf said the convict committed an offence contrary to Section 3(1) a&b of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, and punishable under Section 3(2) 4 & 5 of the VAPP Law, 2012, of Jigawa State.
In addition, to presiding judge ordered the convict to pay the sum of N5,000,000 million as compensation to the victim.
Commenting on the judgement after the court proceedings, the Prosecutor, Esq. Yahaya Abdullahi, Director of Public Prosecution, Jigawa State Ministry of Justice, stated that the judgement was sound and just.
He explained that the judgement would serve as a deterrent to others who might contemplate such heinous crimes. Abdullahi commend the Jigawa state judiciary for its steadfast commitment to justice and the protection of citizens’ rights.
The Jigawa State Government he said, it commitment to the full implementation of the VAPP Law and other legal instruments, designed to protect citizens from all forms of violence.
