
Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has approved the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Hassan, as the pioneer Director General of the Jigawa State ICT and Digital Economy Agency.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Jigawa state government, Mr Bala Ibrahim, made available on Thursday.
It said that prior to the appointment, Dr. Hassan served as the Managing Director, Jigawa State Galaxy Information Technology and Telecommunications (Galaxy ITT).
The SSG according to the statement, explained that, the new DG is an alumnus of Bayero University, Kano who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2008.
He joined Bayero University as a lecturer in 2012 before taking an appointment as the Head of Galaxy Information Techno,ogy and Telecommunications in October 2023.
Similarly, Namadi has appointed Baffajo Beita, as the new Managing Director, Jigawa State Galaxy ITT.
The statement revealed that Beita was previously the Chief Information Officer at Galaxy Backbone, Abuja who brought his expertise in information technology.
In addition, the Gov. Namadi also approved the appointments of Muhammad Zubairu, as Executive Director of Technical Services, and Umar Gumel, as Executive Director of Business Development Services at Jigawa State Galaxy ITT.
These strategic appointments according to the statement, were part of Namadi’s commitment to strengthen the digital economy in Jigawa State.
“This to ensure that the agency is led by professionals who will drive innovation and improve ICT services within and outside the state” the statement said.
The SSG in the statement, expressed hope that the appointees would justify the confidence reposed on them and put in their best towards the development of the State.
“I urge all the appointees to work diligently for sound execution of the present administration’s policies and programmes”. It said.
