    FUDMA elects new Vice Chancellor at the University’s governing council retreat

    Dutse, Oct.25, 2025 

    Federal University Dutsin-Ma, has elected Prof. Muhammed Khalid Othman as its substansive Vice Chancellor with the approval of the University’s governing Council in Dutse on Friday.

    Addressing newsmen in on the development in Dutse on Saturday, the Registrar of the University, Dr Musa Ajiya, said that the Pro-Chancellor of the university Mr Ali Abubakar-Jatau, announced the appointment.

    According to Ajiya, Jatau, also the Chairman of the Governing Council, made the announcement after the 36th Special Meeting held on Friday evening.

    According to him, Prof. Othman emerged successful following a rigorous selection process involving 17 short-listed applicants for the position.

    The shortlisted applicants, he said, participated in a rigorous but transparent selection process, after which the top three candidates were submitted for selection and approval by the Council.

    It was gathered that Prof. Othman was an Assistant Lecturer to Professorship and has held various positions as a teacher, researcher and administrator.

    He was also a one-time Executive Director of the National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

    Othman is presently an internal member of the university’s governing council, representing the Senate.
