    Regulate your social media activities to attract employments….. Jigawa Commissioner

    Jigawa state Commissioner for Infomation, Youths, Sports and Culture,  Mr Sagir Musa, has advised graduating students of the Federal Unuversity Dutse, to regulate their social media engagements to attract jobs.
    The Commiasioner gave the advice in a presentation at a one-day carrier workshop organised for graduating students of Environmental Sciences department of the Federal University Dutse on Monday.
    He said that students need to be responsible and engage in developmental social media engagements.
    Musa said employers have adopted the trend on checking their applicants social media handles to see their kind of engagements and check other security issues.
    According to him, “With the high rate of employment in the country, there is need for young people to change their mind sets on pushing for white color jobs.
    “You need to widen your horizon, explore your potentials and be skillful in order to provide yourself with a job, in case you don’t find an employer,” he said.
    As a one-time Director Information, Resource Centre, US Embassy in Nigeria, Mr Musa made a presentation on writing an enticing curriculum vitae, jib application and preparing for jib interviews.
    He tasked thr students on developing their skills in order to get better opportunities as employers globally, currently value skills in addition to educational qualifications.
    In his remarks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Federal University Dutse, Prof. Nura Muhammed, urged the students to maintain contact with the University after graduation.
    “You need the University contact after graduation as you may find yourself outside the country and need of the university’s assistance at any time.
    “I urge you to pay attention to some of the skills we are teaching you to prepare you for job applications and job interview in the near future.
    Dr Umar Nura, Head of Department, Environmental Sciences Department of the University, said the workshop was organised to prepare their students for the labour market after graduation.
    Some of the students who attended, expressed happiness over the workshop, saying that they have learnt a lot.
    One of them, Miss Maryam Abdullahi,  said the workshop has opened her eyes to the best practices in writing an attractive curriculum vitae.
