Jigawa state Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Jigawa, has demanded for justice through a swift, transparent, thorough and impartial investigation into a case of abduction and rape of a Minor from Hadejia area of Jigawa, by a suspect believed to be a security operative.

A statement signed by Esq AB Umar, Publicity Secretary NBA Jigawa state Branch, made this known on Saturday, appealed for action to ascertain the culpability of the suspect and any other persons complicit in this egregious case.

According to the statement, the association received with profound shock and immense pain, the distressing allegations against Mr. Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, a serving officer of the Department of State Services (DSS).

“The facts, as currently available, outline a harrowing two-year ordeal inflicted upon Miss Walida Abdullahi of Hadejia LGA, Jigawa State. “Miss Abdullahi went missing at the age of 16.

Despite exhaustive efforts by her parents to locate her, her whereabouts remained unknown, a tragedy compounded by the subsequent death of her mother due to the prolonged trauma.

“The branch is however, alarmed by the circumstances of her reappearance. Around January 1, 2026, the suspect, Mr. Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, contacted the victim’s father, Mallam Abdulhadi Ibrahim.

“In the communication, the suspect admitted that Miss Abdullahi had been in his custody for over two years, had born him a child, thus directed the father to Abuja for their marriage,” the statement expressed.

Furthermore, the statement disclosed that the details of Mis Abdullahi’s captivity are horrifying and constitute grave criminal acts as follows.

Alledged abduction and unlawful detention, rape of a minor resulting in pregnancy and childbirth, abuse of office and location of crime and also forced conversion and marriage.

The actions according to the statement, represented an appalling level of barbarism and a display of impunity, utterly unbecoming of an individual entrusted with state security responsibilities.

“The branch is aware of a subsisting Order by a Chief Magistrate Court, Hadejia, dated January 7, 2026 which  directed the Commissioner of Police Jigawa State, and the Deputy Director General of the DSS, to ensure the immediate arrest and investigation of the suspect.

“They were also ordered to secure the release and reunification of Miss Abdullahi with her family and we therefore acknowledged the reported arrest of the suspect by the DSS.

“The Nigerian Bar Association, Dutse Branch, hereby demands full and immediate compliance with the court order by all relevant law enforcement agencies. We assured that we will monitor developments in this matter closely.

“The branch is also committed to ensuring that justice is done for Miss Walida Abdullahi and her family, urging all parties and the public to remain calm and law-abiding, as the investigative and judicial processes take their course.
