Jigawa state Governor Umar Namadi has inaugurated a technjcal and vocational Centre to empower youths in Jigawa state with practical skills.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Monday, Namadi described the centre as a milestone in Jigawa’s journey towards educational advancement and economic empowerment.

“Today is such an important day to us. In our move to a greater Jigawa and in our effort to improve the educational standard in the state. We are commissioning one of the schools we have designated as centers of excellence.

“This is the school we have designated to provide vocational and technical education to our students,” the Governor said.

He acknowledged the foundational efforts of the previous administration, noting that the school was initially constructed at the cost of almost ₦635 million and his administration restructured the institution.

“When we came and decided to combat it to a center of excellence, we have undertaken renovations and built additional hostels at almost about ₦700 million,” he said.

He stressed that the school has already admitted its first set of over 200 carefully selected students, both male and female from across the 27 local government areas of the state.

The new center according to Namadi, will begin operations with three foundational courses in welding and fabrication, building echnology, and catering services.

The Minister of State for Education,  Professor Suwaiba Ahmed, witnessed the commissioning of the centre along side other dignitaries.
