Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has commissioned the 13.5 kilometer Sada-Danakari-Unguwar Malam Kuda-Magina feeder road, in Yankwashi Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
In a speech at the ceremony held on Sunday, Namadi expressed his administration’s commitment to continue to provide infrastructures in rural communities, to boost their economic activities.
He explained that the road, constructed at the cost of N1.69 billion is part of the 48 road projects awarded by his administration in 2024.
“Today, we are in Yankwashi to commission the first out of the 48 road projects awarded in 2024, which covers a distance of 13.5 kilometers, at the cost of N1.69 billion.
The road will link up rural communities of Sada, Ankari, Unguwar Malam Kuda and Magina. The residents of these communities have been yearning for this road for a long period of time.
“And as usual, these communities are agrarians, so this road will provide an avenue for them to take their farm produces to nearby markets.
“And most of these roads are at completion stage and we will soon organise a series of commissioning for all of them.
“As a government, we will continue to provide road infrastructure to our rural communities in order to be able to have easy access to markets and cities,” the governor assured.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Gambo Malam, stated that the road is one of the 48 roads covering a total distance of 977 kilometers awarded in 2024, at the cost of N304 billion.
“So I’m delighted and overjoyed to inform that the road has been accomplished and completed with all the needed works on site,” Namadi said.
Speaking on behalf of the residents of the communities, Abdullahi Musa and Muhammad Gata, commended the state government for the gesture.
The governor however, wrapped up his citizens engagement program, which started since February 2025 and conducted across the 27 local.govermment areas of the state.
While speaking at Yankwashi local government area, Namadi commended the resilience of all residents of the state, noting that he has seen the people’s confidence on his administration.
Namadi explained that the program had provided an avenue for the residents to directly interact with the government.
“We have received commendations and concerns of the people and we promise to continue to provide them with good governance through various projects, to enhance their lives.
“Through the program, we have seen how passionate people are about our administration and we want ro assure them that we will never let them down,” Namadi said.
The Governor personally commented traditional and religious rulers, civil servants, political office holders as well as men, youths and women in the state for their support during the period.
The programme, aimed at providing a platform for government accountability and grassroots participation in governance.
