    Jigawa’s technology driven agriculture attracts Saudi Arabian firm

    Saudi Arabian agricultural firm, Al-Yaseen Agricultural Company, have commended Jigawa State’s technology driven agricultural efforts.

    The leader of the group, Dr Shuaibu Abubakar gave the commendation when they paid a courtesy visit to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse.

    He said that Jigawa’s proactive efforts in agriculture is unmatched in Nigeria, expressing satisfaction with the development they witnessed during a field visit.

    “We have witnessed unprecedented efforts by the Jigawa State Government in promoting technology-driven agriculture, an effort we have not seen replicated in any other state in Nigeria.

    “During our field visits, we observed the remarkable dedication of farmers across the state, we engaged with them directly and they spoke highly of the government’s support.” The delegation lead exclaimed.

    Dr. Abubakar however, assured that Al-Yaseen company, is ready to support Jigawa’s mechanization drive and help realize its full agricultural transformation ambition.

    Responding, Gov. Umar Namadi  said his administration is committed to fully revolutionizing  agricultural sector in Jigawa state.

    He explained that agriculture remains the backbone of Jigawa State’s economy, employing 85–90% of its people and contributing 46% to the GDP

    “We have the land; we have all the available resources needed for farming in Jigawa State and with your expertise in irrigation, I am sure we work together to achieve our goals,” he said.

    The governor further outlined key steps taken by the state towards mechanized farming such as irrigation expansion, improved seed distribution, agronomic training and a network of over 1,700 extension workers.

    Gov Namadi also said the state is currently revamping 10 strategic dams across the state and unlocking thousands of hectares of cultivable land.
