Jigawa state Executive Council has approved the sum of ₦15,242,401,992.00 billion for the award of contract, for the construction of solar-powered mini-grids at Government House, Deputy Governor’s Office and others.
A statement signed by the State Commissioner for health, Dr Abdullahi Kainuwa made this known on Thursday, as an outcome of the weekly Council meeting.
It said that the official residences of the state’s Secretary to the State Government, the Head of Service are amongst places to benefit from the mini solar grids.
Others according to the report, include the state secretariat complex, House of Assembly, Judiciary Complex, and Shuwarin/Gidan Ihu Water Plant, would also benefit. In addition, the council had also approved the award of contract, for electrification and solarization of selected government institutions and MDAs at a cost of ₦689,383,257.83.
“This includes the procurement of transformers and substations for Jigawa State Polytechnic Dutse; GDSTC Gumel, Babura and Kafin Hausa; JTV, and NYSC Orientation Camp.
“Others are Dutse Township Stadium, Specialist Hospitals in Hadejia and Kazaure; General Hospitals in Ringim, Birnin Kudu and Bulangu. “Khadija University, Bamaina Academy, Sara, Gujungu and Maigatari Markets, as well as Jigawa State Polytechnic of Communication and Information Technology, Kazaure are also on the list,” the report said.
In the same vein, the Council based on the report, had approved an award of contract for the construction of CNG conversion workshop training centres and gas conversion centres in Dutse and Hadejia at a total cost of ₦563,003,475.71.
With the sum of ₦214,145,586.71 going for Dutse project while the sum of ₦348,857,889.00 goes for the Hadejia project respectively.
In line with the state government’s efforts to curb flooding, the report said that the Council has approved the sum of ₦4,885,603,497.79 for the construction of drainage systems at Tumballe and Garun Gabas in Mallam Madori LGA.
The sum will also cover the construction of the drains in Kila Town, Farin Dutse and Gwaram General Hospital in Gwaram LGA, Maigatari Town in Maigatari LGA, Kafin Hausa Town in Kafin Hausa LGA, and College of Education, Gumel.
Meanwhile, to sustain Jigawa State’s status of “Open Defecation-Free (ODF)”, the Council approved the sum of ₦359,250,552.00, for the construction of two blocks of public conveniences at Kubsa, Sara and Babura Markets.
