Jigawa state executive Council has approved the sum of N292,637,128.50K, for the construction of 19 Solar Powered Water Supply Scheme across the State.
Mr Sagir Musa, the state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, made this known while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state weekly executive council meeting on Tuesday.
According to him, “The Council approval is part of the Namadi administration’s unwavering commitment to enhance public health and reduce water scarcity.
“It is also aimed at promoting environmental sustainability through the use of renewable energy technology,” The commissioner said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner further announced the Council’s approval on renaming the Ministry of Special Duties to Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Special Duties.
The Council approval he explained, is aimed at broadening the Ministry’s mandate to better address emerging humanitarian challenges facing the State.
The emerging challenges he added, included such as perennial flooding and the need to improve administrative efficiency of the new Ministry.
Similarly, the Commissioner revealed that the renaming of the Ministry aligns with National and International Standards, which will enable the effective coordination of humanitarian aid to support the vulnerable communities.
