Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has presented proposed budget for 2026 of over N901 billion, as 2026 appropriation before to the state house of assembly on Tuesday.
While presenting the budget tagged “Budget of Innovation & Transformation For Greater Jigawa II“, the governor said the sum of over N693.4 billion, representing over 76 per cent will be for capital expenditure.
The governor also said that the sum of over N208 billion, will be for recurrent expenditure.
According to him, “Over N310 billion, is proposed for education and health, while over N186 billion was budgeted for roads and transport, the governor said.
Namadi further explained that the sum of over N74 billion for agriculture and livestock, N50.74 billion for power and energy, while N12.68 billion for youth empowerment.
He pointed out that the sum of N25.4 billion was proposed for water and sanitation, N35.4 billion for environment and climate.
The governor also, presented the sum of over N288 billion for the services of the 27 local government area councils of the state.
It was reported that the 2026 budget proposal is 19 per cent higher than the 2025 budget.
