The Minister of Defence, Mr Badaru Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting states’ efforts to strengthen security, through strategic partnerships and the deployment of resources where necessary.
He made the affirmation on Thursday at a high-level security meeting with the Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
A statement signed by Mr Mati Ali, the Personal Assistant to the Minister in Media and Publicity, revealed that the engagement took place when the Minister paid an operational visit to Kebbi State.
The statement highlighted that the meeting marked a significant step towards enhancing intergovernmental collaboration to tackle insecurity in the state and its surrounding regions.
The session, the statement said, had focused on fostering stronger synergy, mutual support and improved understanding between federal and state authorities in the fight against banditry, kidnappings affecting the state and environs.
Abubakar lauded the efforts of the Kebbi State government in responding to local security challenges and pledged continued support to reinforce those initiatives.
In response, Gov. Nasiru Idris of Kebbi, appreciated the Minister’s visit and reiterated his administration’s readiness to work closely with all relevant stakeholders in addressing security concerns.
He praised the commitment of security agencies operating in Kebbi and stressed the importance of collaborative.
“Both leaders emphasized the urgent need for sustained cooperation, public support and better understanding to defeat the insecurity.” It noted.
