The Forum of former elected Councillors in Jigawa, who have served during the administration of former Governor of Jigawa State, Badaru Abubakar, have honoured him with a plaque of appreciation for payment of all outstanding severance allowances.
A statement signed by Mr Mati Ali, the Minister’s Special Assistant 8n Media and Publicity, said the allowances were owed to local government councillors in the state, dating back from 1999 to 2023.
The former councillors according to the statement, issues the award to the Minister in his Kano residence on Friday, 20th June 2025.
Presenting the award, the Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Mustafá Isyaku, stated that the gesture was made on behalf of all former councillors in the state, as an appreciation for the goodwill and support they enjoyed during Mohammed Badaru Abubakar’s tenure as Governor of Jigawa State.
The Forum according to the statement, reaffirmed their unwavering support and loyalty to the former Governor, who is the current Minister of Defence, thus pledged continued solidarity to him in all his political endeavours within Jigawa State.
It was gathered that the member representing Hadejia Constituency in the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Jallo, and the former Chairman of Gumel Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Gumel were in attendance.
