Dutse, Jan.28, 2026 Jigawa state executive council, has approved the release of the sum of ₦2,651,596,547.52 billion only, for the conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations by pilgrims from the state. The State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, made this known while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the weekly executive council meeting in Dutse on Wednesday. Kano Jan. 28, 2026 United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has called for urgent action to improve water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in schools and primary healthcare facilities across Kano and Jigawa states. Chief of UNICEF Field Office Kano, Mr. Rahama Rihood Mohammed Farah, made the call during a media and stakeholders’ dialogue on WASH services in the two states. Farah cited findings from the 2021 WASHNORM II survey, which revealed that only 11 per cent of schools nationwide have access to basic water, sanitation and hygiene services, while just six per cent of health facilities meet the same standard.…

Dutse, Jan.27, 2026 Jigawa state High Court has ordered the immediate and unconditional release of one Mr. Ja’o Sabo, who has been in detention for over 10 years without conviction by a competent court. Justice Ado Yusif Birnin-kudu, the presiding judge, gave the order during a court session on Tuesday in Dutse, following a Fundamental Rights Enforcement suit filed by the applicant, Mr. Ja’o Sabo. Kano, Jan. 21, 2026 Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state, has directed the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, to fast-track prosecution of the suspects already arrested in connection with the recent killings in the state.
