Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, has signed the 2026 budget of N901.84 billion into law, to drive development as demanded by citizens of the state, through the Citizen’s engagement program.

Speaking while signing of the budget, Gov. Namadi said, while the budget stands at ₦901.84 billion, the consolidated budget of the 27 Local Government Councils is ₦288.85 billion.

“This budget, is the outcome of our extensive citizen engagement programme, and it truly reflects the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Jigawa State.

“It is, therefore, a citizens’ budget, exactly what our people asked us to do, and exactly what is contained in this budget,” the governor stated.

He however, commended members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly for their dedication and commitment throughout the budget process.

“Their support during the citizen engagement sessions, bilateral meetings, high-level discussions, and committee stages played a critical role in the smooth passage of this budget.”

“I also commend the members of the State Executive Council for approving and actively participating in the citizen engagement programme, and for their tireless efforts in gathering inputs from our citizens,” Namadi said.

He further commended the residents of the state for their support and participation in the budget process, pledging that the administration will do its best to improve the lives of people.

It would be recalled that the Jigawa State House of Assembly passed into law the ₦901.8 billion 2026 State Appropriation Bill on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

The 2026 budget is tagged “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II,” presented to the Assembly on November 25, 2025 by the Gov. Umar Namadi.
