Jigawa state overnment has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting teachers through capacity-building to improve teaching in secondary schools across the state.

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Professor Isa Yusuf Chamo, made gave the reaffirmation at a five-day training workshop organized by the Ministry in collaboration with the British Council and the State Senior Secondary Education Board.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Mr Wasilu Umar said the workshop focused on strengthening teachers’ English proficiency and instructional leadership.

He explained that the workshop was also tailored for English teachers and heads of senior secondary schools.

Chamo according to the report, emphasized that the initiative aligns with Governor Mallam Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda to ensure that teachers are equipped with modern teaching techniques to address the challenges of the education landscape.

He further stated that in order to achieve the desired objectives, Governor Umar Namadi had approved the establishment of the Teacher Development Agency, which will be solely responsible for building the capacity of teachers across the state.

The training, the report said, was organized to enhance the quality of teaching amongst secondary school educators in Jigawa State.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Jigawa State Senior Secondary Education Board, Dr. Abubakar Sabo Yushau, described the training as timely and inspiring.

He praised the partnership between the state government and the British Council, noting that it is a clear reflection of the current administration’s commitment to reforming the education sector.

Dr. Yushau however, urged the participants to focus on the training and ensure that they share the knowledge gained with other teachers in their respective schools.

He commended the efforts of Professor Isa Yusuf Chamo for his tireless work in ensuring the success of the program.
