Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed a supplementary budget of N75 billion, for the state and local governments for the 2025 fiscal year.
The supplimentary budget was passed into law during the assembly’s plenary on Thursday, presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the Jigawa state Assembly, Hon. Sani Isiya.
The sum of N58 billion of the approved supplementary budget was for the state government while the sum of N17 billion was meant for the 27 Local Government Councils, covering both recurrent and capital expenditures.
In the Deputy Speaker’s address during the plenary, he explained that a letter from the executive arm, disclosed that the supplementary budget is intended to address emerging financial needs.
Moreover, the Deputy Speaker said it will enhance the ongoing projects and programs across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture.
With the adoption of the report from the House Committee on Appropriation Hon Ibrahim Hamza Adamu, the House unanimously approved the passage of the supplementary budget .
It was gathered the passage will compliment the state’s 2025 budget, which amounted to N689.3 billion and was initially approved by the House on December 31, 2024.
It was however, recalled that the state Executive Council approved the supplementary budget and forwarded same to the state Assembly for passage during the previous week’s executive council meeting.
