    Foundation empowers adolescent girls to make input into 2026 budget in Jigawa

    Baba Azumi Foundation, a Jigawa based Civil Society, has empowered adolescent girls, under their Local Right Project, to enable them make an input in the 2026 budget for Jigawa state.

    The girls, who were part of the one-day town hall meeting for stakeholder engagement for the 2026 budget that took place in Dutse on Thursday, expressed delight for the platform.

    One of them, Ms Khadija Saminu, appealed for inclusion of adolescent girls in the budget so they can have access incentives to take care of their personal needs.

    She said that they have some needs which as students, they aren’t financially capable of solving the problems.

    Ms Fatima Lawan and Muhibbat Hussain also expressed their concern on priotizing the girl child in the budget, noting that they presented a request at the state Ministry for Women Affairs.

    In her remarks, the Founder of the Baba Azumi Foundation and the girl’s initiative, Local Right Project, Esq Aisha Sulaiman Jahun expressed delight over the meeting.

    She stressed the importance of the annual townhall meeting which was usually conducted before the annual budget across Jigawa state.

    The Founder made appeal for the state to include some remote Jigawa communities in the budget and provide them with sustainable water supply.

    She commended the state government for the effort, as well as other stakeholders for their active participation.

    Jahun expressed optimism that stakeholders’ efforts on providing inputs shall never be in vain.
