Jigawa state executive council, has increased funding for its basic healthcare initiative J-abasic, a free basic health service for the vulnerable and another citizens of the state.
The State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen after the Council meeting on Tuesday in Dutse.
He said that the council approved the increase in the capitation for Formal Sector (217,134 enrollees) and J-Basic Healthcare Programmes (143,500 enrollees) from N300 to N500 per enrollee monthly.
According to him, “Following the successful implementation of J-Basic Healthcare Services for the vulnerable citizens, the increased funding will reinforce the administration’s transformative initiative.
“The initiative is aimed at providing free and accessible healthcare to the poorest and most vulnerable citizens in the state in accordance with global best practices for health insurance,” the Commissioner said.
He stressed the J-Basic healthcare initiative in Jigawa has been rated as the best in the country so far and the government is doing its best to sustain and improve on it.
