Comrade Abbas Ibrahim with the leadership of NAWOJ he inaugurated during his tenure as Chairman NUJ Kano State Council.

    June 23, 2025

In a profession where voices often echo but few resonate with lasting impact, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, has always stood tall — a voice of purpose, integrity, and action.

His recent appointment as a National Officer of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, is a testament to a life of service steeped in resilience, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to the ideals of press freedom and social justice.

With over two decades of meritorious service at the Kano State Radio Corporation, Ibrahim etched his name in the annals of media excellence. As a distinct and ace crime reporter in his early days in the profession, he did not merely report events — he told the stories that mattered, giving voice to the voiceless and challenging the status quo with the courage that only a true journalist could muster.

More than a reporter, Ibrahim, is an activist and people’s leader — one who walks among the people, understands their struggles, and amplifies their hopes.

He is known not only for his journalistic prowess but also for his uncommon ability to “move with the crowd” without losing his direction. That rare quality has earned him admiration and trust from colleagues and comrades across the country.

As Chairman of NUJ Kano Council, he brought transformative leadership, nurturing young journalists and advocating for ethical standards in practice.

His charisma and sense of purpose turned challenges into stepping stones, and his tenure was marked by unity, innovation, and bold advocacy.

Now, as he ascends to the national stage, we have no doubt that Comrade Abbas Ibrahim will bring the same passion, clarity of vision, and principled leadership that have defined his journey thus far.

His story is not just one of personal achievement — it is a mirror reflecting what is possible when courage meets commitment.

We salute Comrade Abbas Ibrahim — a journalist, a patriot, a man of the people.

May your new role be filled with greater victories, and may your path continue to inspire the next generation of media professionals across Nigeria and beyond.
