Jigawa state Information, Communication, Technology and Digital Economy Agency, said its partnering with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa state Council in renovation of the Council’s ICT Centre and capacity for journalists.
The Director General of the Agency, Dr Muhammad Hassan, stated this in an interview with newsmen on Friday, when he inspected the centre, with an intent to assess the condition of the centre.
He said that the agency is committed to supporting the NUJ in Jigawa, to upgrade the skills of journlists in online and digital journalism, which he said its the global trend.
The DG said, “I am here to assess the centre to see the level of revocation and upgrade it needs and we will invest in online and digital training for journalists on Jigawa state,” he said.
In response, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Isma’ila Ibrahim, commended the DG for the visit and concern in rehabilitating the centre.
He said that if the Agency and other agencies invest in training of journalists, saying that it will erase quackery from the medi sector in Jigawa and the country in general.
It was gathered that National Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NITDA), set up a multi million naira ICT Centre for the NUJ Jigawa state Council in 2020.
The centre was abandoned and was never put to use and the new leadership of the council came in with the zeal to seek for partnership to rehabilitate the centre and put to use for the benefit of journalists in the state.
