    Jigawa judiciary signs into law, revised rules on administration of criminal justice

    Jigawa state Chief Judge, Justice Umar Sadiq, has signed into law, the revised rules of court under the Administration of criminal Justice Law(ACJL) Programme on Wednesday.
    A statement signed by the Director Publicity and Protocol of the Jigawa state judiciary made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Dutse.
    It said that the development has underscored the commitment of the Jigawa State Judiciary, in enhancing the efficiency, transparency and fairness of the judicial process, in line with modern legal standards.
    The chief judge according to the statement, officially endorsed the new Rules of Court, which are designed to streamline judicial procedures, eliminate delays and ensure the effective implementation of the ACJL in Jigawa State.
    “The revised rules incorporate best practices in criminal justice administration, emphasizing speedy trials, protection of defendants’ rights, and the use modern ways in court processes,” the statement explained.

    It further revealed that Justice Sadiq commended the efforts of the rules committee and all stakeholders, whose contributions were instrumental in the drafting and finalization of the document.

    In a key note address it said, the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Bello Abdulkadir-Fanini, applauded the judiciary for the initiative.

    Fanini emphasized that the new rules will strengthen the justice system, improve access to justice and align with the state government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.
    The statement added that the Attorney General further assured of continued collaboration between the executive and judiciary, in fostering a robust legal framework in Jigawa State.
    According to the statement, the event, was attended to by judges, the Police, Legal Aid Council, Nigerian Bar Association and Directors of Public Prosecution as well as other legal practitioners across the state.
