Jigawa state Executive Council has approved the sum of N15, 792,272,204,80 for the transformation of Primary education, under the Jigawa UNITE programme, for first and second Academic Sessions.(2024-2026) respectively.
The state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, made this known in an interview on Wednesday, revealing the outcome of the weekly state Executive council meeting.
He said, the approval was in line with Jigawa State Government’s innovative and modern approach towards actualizing effective quality education service delivery to the citizens of the State.
“This is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Jigawa state and New Globe Education Services Limited, for transformation of primary education, with a 30 per cent mobilization of N4,737,681,781.44.
“The Jigawa Unified New Improvement of Teaching and Education (Jigawa UNITE) programme, aimed at deploying innovative technology and data-driven platform that provides high-quality learning materials.
“It will deploy effective training for teachers, as well as technology enabled support teams, to create support and drastic improvement in learning outcomes across the state,” Musa explained.
Other highlights of major decisions reached at the council meeting he said, included approval for the full the implementation of Alternative Care for Children (ACC) guidelines.
This he added, is in line with the Namadi administration’s commitment to ensure social protection coverage to the state citizens, aiming to safeguard vulnerable children by ensuring their well-being and development of citizens.
In the same vein, Mr Musa revealed that the council has ordered for the immediate distribution of N839,686,580 donated to the 210 families affected by Majia Tanker Incidence.
He said that the council has ordered the Majia Tanker explosion invesigation committee, to follow up with unfulfilled donation pledges.
