Jigawa state Police command, has said that it has arrested an Islamic school teacher for alleged murder of his student over absenteeism.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer,  SP Shiisu Adam made this known on Friday.
It said that on 13th March 2025, one Mal. Musa Wada, 45yrs of Jikas-Dabaja village in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa state, was arrested in connection with the gruesome  killing of his pupil (Almajiri), one Bashir Adamu.
The report said, following a tip-off, detectives attached to the Gwaram Division successfully arrested the suspect.
“On interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse, the suspect confessed that late Bashir Adamu, was his student but was always absent to school.

“When the teacher questioned him on why he was always absent, he failed to provide a satisfactory response; as a result, he decided to punish him by beating him with a cane.

“In the process, little Adamu fell unconsciousness and passed away. So the teacher attempted to deceive the public into believing that ritualists had killed Bashir, he cut off his head and genital organs.

“The teacher also confessed that he buried the remains of Adamu in his farmland,” the statement revealed.

It was recalled that, on 12th March 2025 at about 2200hrs, information from Divisional Police Headquarters Gwaram, reported that, a dead body with no genital organs and head was found by the roadside, along Jikas-Dabaja village in Gwaram.

It was reported that the already decomposing corpse was later identified to be Bashir Adamu, a student (Almajiri) of Mal Musa Wada.

Upon completion of investigation, the report highlighted, the suspect will be arraigned before a court to face the full wrath of the law.
