Chairman, Northwest Development Commission, Alh. Lawal Sama’ila, with Jigawa State Gov. Umar Namadi
    Dutse, March 7, 2025
Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa state, has tasked the leaders of Northwest Development Commission on integrity and accountability, to gain support of governors in the Zone.
The Governor gave the task when he received the leaders of the commission led by its chairman, at the government House in Dutse, on Friday.
Namadi urged them to learn from others, since theirs is a new commission with the same mandate as the others.
According to him, “Certainly, we will support you because as leaders, we have a responsibility to improve the lives of our people.
“We have an obligation to collaborate and support the commission and rest assured, you have a good partner here and we will work together,” Namadi assured.
Despite a vibrant team of people of integrity at the commission, Namadi urged them to have a focus and commitment, as well as work with the priorities of Governors, to succeed.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission, Mr Lawal Sama’ila, said they were at the government House for formal introduction and to solicit support and encouragement of the government.
He said the commission was established with the consent of governors in the zone, so it has become necessary to seek for their support.
“Jigawa is an agrarian and industrious state, so we find it worthy to be here first after we visited the Chairman of the Northern governors forum, to seek for support,” Samaila said.
He said that the commission has already received insights on areas of collaboration with Jigawa state for economic and social development.
Mr Samaila described the Nortwest development commission as the largest commission amongst others in other roles with seven states, noting that there are a lot of challenges.
Some of the challenges he highlighted were, out of school issues, drug abuse and addiction in addition to other security and social vices.
The commission chair however, commended Gov. Namadi, for his efforts in fighting many societal menace, even before assumed office as a governor of Jigawa state, as mentioned in the records.
“With Jigawa’s strong manpower due to its position in terms of western civilization,  it is a place to learn and collaborate because its citizens made a remarkable presence even at the Federal level,” he said.
