    Former Jigawa governor, calls for establishment of more schools in Birnin-Kudu

    First executive governor of Jigawa state, Alh. Ali Sa’ad, has called for establishment of more schools in remote areas of his hometown, Birnin-Kudu local government area of Jigawa state.
    Sa’ad made the call on Sunday during the Jigawa state Citizens Engagement program, introduced by the Namadi administration, which held in Birnin-Kudu.
    He said that there are remote areas in Birnin-Kudu where children don’t go to school because of the distance between their communities and the schools available in other communities.
    Sa’ad also appealed to the state government to establish dispensaries on all nooks and crannies of the state, to enable citizens reap the dividends of democracy and promote quality healthcare delivery.
    According to him, “There is also need for the government to complete abandoned road projects that link communities, in order to boost businesses and ease access in the area,” he said.
    On his part, the state Governor Malam Umar Namadi, commended the citizens of Birnin-Kudu, for submitting a document with their demands to the government.
    He said, “This local government has broken a record by taking time to document their demands and submitted to us today. We will surely study them and fulfill their wishes God willing,” Namadi said.
    Namadi further appealed to Jigawa state residents to provide feedback to the government on development projects at all levels for proper monitoring.
    Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture,  Mr Sagir Musa, explained to concept of the program, saying it aims at enforcing transparency in governance.
    Mr Musa revealed that the Namadi administration’s quest for inclusion, initiated the program to promote accountability as far as all political offices are concerned.
    “This program aims at providing the citizens with a platform to interact and seek for answers to pressing issues from those they have elected, ” he explained.
    Some residents of the area have so far commended the administration for the projects executed in the area.
    One of them, Mr Umar Baba, said the governor is doing great in terms of completing abandoned works in the area.
    Also, Abdulbaki Aminu, said the adminstration needs to do more in youths empowerment in the area, to reduce high population of unemployed youths.
