    Jigawa executive Council approves over N9 billion for revitalisation of 114 PHCs

    Jigawa state Executive Council, has approved the sum of N9,778,830,388.00 for the revitalization of 114 ward level primary health care centres in the State.
    A statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Youths and Sport, Mr Sagir Musa, made this known on Monday, while addressing the press after the Council, meeting in Dutse.
    He explained that in line with Gov. Umar Namadi’s commitment to
    Universal Health Care coverage in the State, the adminstration will revitalize the PHCs across the 27 LGAs.
    The revitalization he said, will be conducted under the Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress for Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Programme of the World Bank.
    According to Musa, other highlights of the major decisions reached at the council meeting included constitution of a 10-member commitee, come up with modalities for talent hunting, to encourage creativity and innovation among youths in the State.
    The Committee has Commissioner of Higher Education as Chairman, Commissioner of Health, Environment, Local Government, Information, Technical Advisers on ICT and Digital Economy, Higher Education and  Agriculture as members.
    Others include, the Director General Youth Empowerment and Employment Agency, Principal Private Secretary to the Governor and Special Assistant on Technology and Innovation as secretary.
    According to him, “The Commitee was constituted in fulfillment of his Excellency’s vision on Human Capital Development in the 12-Points Agenda and has a mandate of two weeks to submit its reports,” Musa said.
    Furthermore, the Council has approved the launching of a Special Citizen Engagement Programme (Gwamnati da Jamma’a), to be rolled out across all 27 Local Government Areas inform of Town Hall meeting with community members.
    The aim he said, is to engage directly with His Excellency and other Government officials, with an aim to ensure that the citizens engage actively, in shaping their future and remain informed about projects by the state government.
