Emir of Kano, His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi ll, has tasked women journalists, on the protection of the Civic right of the teeming women in the country.
A statement jointly signed by NAWOJ Kano Chapter Chairperson, Mrs Bahijja Kabara and the Secretary Mrs Maryam Yakasai made this known on Monday.
It said that the Emir gave the task when he received the members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), led by the National Secretary of the association, Mrs Wasila Ladan in his Palace.
Sanusi said, he was aware of the activities of the association towards mobilization of women in various fields of development, hoping that the tempo would be sustained.
He therefore, implored NAWOJ, to continue to strictly adhere to the ethic of the Journalism profession to enable the association succeed.
Earlier the leader of the delegation, the Secretary General of the National Association of Women Journalists, Mrs Wasila Ladan, said they were at the palace, to pay homage and intimate the Emir on the activities of the association.
Mrs Ladan said the association is ever committed to protecting the image of women and children at all times.
On behalf of the association, Mrs Ladan congratulated Sanusi on his reinstatement on throne and prayed for God’s protection and more wisdom to to steer the affairs of the emirate.
She however, solicited for the support of the Kano emirate council, to forge ahead, as the association embarks on vital projects to protect women and children in the country.
