    FG completes abandoned Greater Dutse Water Supply Project in Jigawa

    The Federal Government has flagged off the 24 year old abandoned Greater Dutse Water Supply Project in Sultilmawa area of Jigawa state in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State on Thursday.
    The Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utseve commissioned the over N59 billion worth project that will provide about 10 million liters of water to Jigawa state.
    Utseve said that  the project is part of the President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, as he promised during his Presidential campaign in Jigawa state.
    According to him, the project will provide potable and clean water to the residents of Dutse and its neighbouring communities, thus improving value chain.
    “The project, expected to be completed in 24 months will have a 10,000 meters-based concrete reservoir and housing quarters in addition,” the Minister said.

    Gov. Umar Namadi of the state however, applauded the President for fulfilling his promise for the project, which he promised the deceased Emir of Dutse, that he would complete.
    Namadi also commended the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation for prioritising the project and ensuring its timely flag off.
    “The project is an ultimate solution to the lingering Water shortage and will provide access to potable drinking water in Jigawa state,”Namadi assured.
    Commenting on the project, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Sanusi, reflected how his late father, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi was passionate about the project
    According to him, “I remember how my father usually reminded every President that visited Dutse, to assist and revive the project to completion stage,” said the Emir.
    He revealed that the day was remarkable and emotional to him, as he hoped that his late father were alive to witness the achievement.
    Honorable Sada Jibia, Chairman House Committee on Watwr Resourves at the National Assembly, assured that the job when completed will assist the people living in Jigawa, with clean water supply.
    Furthermore, the Managing Director, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin, Mr Mamun Farouk-Da’u, said as the awarding agency, they will monitor the project for timely completion.
    It was gathered that the Greater Dutse Water Supply Project, was abandoned for 24 years by previous administration.
    Some residents of Dutse, spoke to our Correspondent and commended President  Bola Tinubu and Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa for the success.
    Mr Umar Abubakar, one of them, said that Dutse capital and some communities in Jigawa have suffered water shortage for years.
    He expressed hope that the project will bring solace to residents in Dutse and other benefitting communities.
    Also, Mr Kamilu Bakari, said the project will surely be of benefit to both residents and farmers in Dutse and Jigawa community at large.
