Women in Jigawa state have embraced Family Planning as a solution to a lot of health and economic issues, yet they appeal for the provision of free Contraceptives by the governments and voluntary organisations.
Some of the women who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at Kachi Primary Healthcare Centre in Dutse metropolis on Saturday, expressed concern over the non- availability of the contraceptives.
Mrs Adama Babale, one of them, said that the situation is worrisome because she spent huge some to check the hospital to confirm if contraceptives are in stock.
She lamented that if they are asked to buy from pharmacies outside the hospital, the shop owners ask them to access the services and pay at the pharmacies which costs more.
“Some of them refuse to sell the products but rather will be asking you to come and obtain the services from them while at the hospital, we get the products and the services for free.
“We want the government and other donor agencies to kindly come to our aid because many couples in Jigawa are adopting Family Planning as a solution to many societal vices,” she said.
Another patient, Mrs Amina Abdullahi said, she was asked to buy contraceptives from the pharmacy out side the clinic and she got expired product that’s why she awaits the hospital to provide.
“I was asked to buy some of the items that are not available and my husband went somewhere and got them but when they checked them, they realised it was expired product.
“So I am praying not get pregnant before the commodities arrive the hospitals, which are safe and free,” Mrs Abdallahi said.
A service provider at the Kachi Pri are Healthcare Centre, Mrs Amina Sulaiman in an interview, told NAN that the hospital ran out of commodity for the past two months.
According to her, “We feel bad seeing womens’ reaction when we inform them we are out of commodity during our clinic days.
“There are times that the husbands will get angry too and remind us that government has announced that there are services and commodities free.
“While some choose to buy from outside if they in urgent need of the services, some say they don’t trust outside market very much,” she explained.
She appealed to all concerned to assist the women on providing free commodities to save them economic stress.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), gathered that a lot of rural men and women in Jigawa state are enlightened about Family Planning services.
Many have resorted to accessing the services for health, economic and moral reasons, yet the hospitals get out of stock provided by the government.
