The Parents’ Association of Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN), have commended the Founder and President of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, for the successful conduct of the institution’s maiden convocation ceremony.
The Association’s Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Balarabe, made the commendation on behalf of parents, during an interaction with journalists shortly after the convocation ceremony held at the university’s campus in Kano.
Balarabe said, parents were particularly impressed by Professor Gwarzo’s decision to sponsor 45 best-performing graduates, for postgraduate studies in foreign universities, describing the initiative as a major boost to academic excellence and human capital development.
According to him, “the gesture has strengthened parents’ confidence in the institution and encouraged them to recommend the university to other families seeking quality and affordable higher education.”
The Parents’ Association also lauded the university management for its sustained investment in academic development, infrastructure, and quality assurance, noting that despite its rapid growth, MAAUN remains one of the most affordable private universities in Nigeria.
Alhaji Balarabe however, noted that while some private universities charge between N6 and N7 million naira tuition fees for Nursing programmes, MAAUN charges less than two million naira per academic session.
Meanwhile, the Association expressed concern over what it described as attempts by a few individuals to discredit the institution, describing such actions as unfortunate and unwarranted.
He on behalf of the parents, urged the Founder and President of the university, to remain steadfast in his commitment to providing accessible and quality education.
He commended him for maintaining relatively moderate tuition fees despite prevailing economic challenges, that have forced many institutions to increase their charges.
