Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa State

Jigawa state Governor Umar Namadi, has grated state pardon to nine inmates serving various sentence in Jigawa state correctional facility.

The state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Dutse.

He stated that amongst those pardoned, there were two young offenders, who were granted pardon to continue pursuing their higher education.

According to him, “The two young offenders have excelled in their studies and had exhibited good character while in detention, thus qualified for the executive pardon.

“The remaining seven inmates have substantially served their sentenced period and exhibitted sign of  remorse and reformation, the Commissioner said.

He stressed that the governor charged the pardoned inmates to ensure being of good conduct and avoid being in trouble to the extent of attracting imprisonment.
